Family Carers

Understand distress, respond with reassurance, and care confidently at home

What if you could understand your loved one’s distress before it escalates at home?

Caring for a family member living with dementia at home can be deeply rewarding, but it can also be overwhelming, emotionally and physically. Without support or guidance, many carers often feel isolated, uncertain, or anxious when behaviour changes occur, particularly during moments of distress, confusion, or agitation.

These challenges can lead to stress, exhaustion, and strain on relationships, while the person being cared for may experience increased distress or feel less secure

The 6D Dementia Approach

6D Dementia provides family carers with a psychologically informed, practical online course designed to support care at home. People living with dementia often experience distress, fear or confusion. This can show up as changes in behaviour, emotions, or reactions that feel out of character or difficult to understand.

For family carers, these moments can be upsetting and exhausting. You may find yourself asking:

It’s easy to feel unsure, guilty, or alone, even when you’re doing your very best.

Carers are supported to understand behaviour as communication, respond with reassurance when distress arises, and feel more confident when situations feel difficult, while also maintaining their own wellbeing.

How We Deliver Training

Fully digital, bitesized modules allow carers to access guidance when they need it, fitting around care routines and daily life. You can pause the training at any time and come back to it whenever it suits you.

Interactive content, practical tips, and reassurance-focused strategies help carers apply learning in the moment, when situations feel most difficult.
